Troubleshooting

If you experience a problem with your vehicle not starting with the computer chip installed, there are several possibilities that could be occurring.

Common Possibility's

1. The contacts on the computer weren't cleaned well enough. If even just one pin doesn't make a good connection, the vehicle will not start. This possibility needs to be double-checked.

2. The computer chip in the vehicle was, at some point in time, reprogrammed by the dealer. This could have been done even prior to you purchasing the vehicle. If this was done, you will have the wrong computer chip. The sticker containing your computer code is no longer correct. Usually when you're trying to start the vehicle, the SES (check engine light) light will flash real quickly. For the diesels, the "Wait to start" light may not come on.

3. You have a faulty chip. Although this isn't common, it is possible for one of the components of the chip to fail. This would in turn cause the entire chip not to work.

4. If you have a vehicle between the years 1998-2000, there's a possibility that you have a vehicle that requires two jumpers to be soldered into the computer. There are a random handful of computers in which the service port (where the chip plugs in) has been disconnected. This does not allow the information from the chip to successfully transfer. Often, when you're trying to start the vehicle, your Anti-Theft light flashes quickly. There are some more common codes for which this occurs, there are no guarantees. Below is a list of common codes that require the jumpers to be soldered into the computer.

Keep in mind that if you have one of these codes, this does not necessarily mean that soldering is 100% required. Again, these are just some common codes.
