Custom designed for the Ford 4R100 transmission, the DiabloSport PowerValve is a replacement transmission accumulator valve created to eliminate the common erratic shift problem of the E4OD and 4R100 transmission. A problem which is caused by a lack of pressure in the transmission valve body due to the soft shift settings from the factory. It is more prevalent in high output applications. The PowerValve has been specifically designed to increase the valve body pressure for a quicker and more precise shift action without compromising drivability and reliability.
What does it do?
The Power valve works to eliminate the common erratic shift problem of the 4R100 transmission by increasing the valve body pressure. This problem is even more prevalent in high output engines and causes a decrease in transmission shift accuracy and speed. The PowerValve's piston diameter is increased from 3/8 (factory) to either 7/16 (medium) or 1/2 (firm) depending upon application. The grooves found on the original piston design have shown to reduce pressure as well, so they have been eliminated on our stainless steel piece. By installing the PowerValve, the increase in piston diameter will raise the line pressure which in turn will allow the clutch pack to apply faster thus creating a more positive shift.
Benefits
The PowerValve by DiabloSport not only greatly improves the shift action of the transmission it also reduces the transmissions temperature. Since the positive shift action makes the transmission shift gears quicker, there will be less labor between gear selections thus keeping the transmission oil temperature low especially in heavy towing and high output applications. Weather driving around the track, in the city, or towing a trailer down the interstate, the PowerValve will benefit every driving condition.
Construction
The CNC milled T-6061 aluminum sleeve is available in two different piston diameters, 7/16 for medium shift action, 1/2 for firm shift action. The 1/2 diameter is recommended for high output applications. The piston is machined out of stainless steel for maximum durability.
